The RAMD Date Palm Congress 2026 will welcome Prof. Abdulbasit Oudah Ibrahim, an expert in date palm physiology and horticulture, with more than 40 years of experience.

A career spanning academia and international organizations

His career took him from the University of Basra to several leading institutions: ACSAD (Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands), the FAO and ICARDA (International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas).

He currently serves as FAO Iraq's date palm consultant.

A substantial scientific output

He is the author of 80 scientific publications, 16 books and 3 patents. In 2019, he received the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation.

Physiology, the key to palm productivity

Understanding how the date palm functions physiologically — flowering, fruit set, fruit enlargement and ripening — determines control over yield and quality. It is the foundation on which irrigation, fertilization and orchard management decisions rest.

Expected contributions for the Moroccan sector

  • optimize crop management based on physiological stages;
  • improve production regularity from one year to the next;
  • adapt horticultural practices to arid-zone constraints;
  • connect applied research with producers' needs.

See you on October 1, 2026 in Errachidia

This session consolidates the congress's research and innovation track and the presence of recognized international expertise alongside Moroccan stakeholders.

Registration for the RAMD Date Palm Congress 2026 is open to all professionals in the sector.
