The RAMD Date Palm Congress 2026 will welcome Prof. Ibrahim Jaddoa Al-Jboory, international consultant and senior scientist in plant protection, an Iraqi specialist in agricultural entomology.

A leading scientific career

He holds a PhD from the University of Bonn (1987), served as President of the Arab Society for Plant Protection — where he is now Vice President — and is Editor-in-Chief of the Arab and Near East Plant Protection Bulletin.

He is also the founder of the Iraqi Date Palms Network and the author of more than 114 scientific publications.

Winner of the 2024 Khalifa International Award

In 2024 he received the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, the highest international distinction dedicated to the date palm and agricultural innovation — recognition of his body of work on the sector.

Plant protection, a vital issue for palm groves

Palm groves across the Mediterranean rim and the Middle East share common phytosanitary threats: emerging pests, decline diseases, and movement of plant material between countries. Iraqi and regional experience offers Morocco directly usable points of comparison.

Expected areas of focus

  • monitoring and early detection of date palm pests;
  • regional coordination against cross-border threats;
  • integrated control strategies suited to oasis areas;
  • knowledge sharing between date-producing countries.

See you on October 1, 2026 in Errachidia

This session strengthens the international dimension of the congress and its crop protection track, alongside irrigation, biotechnology, genomics and post-harvest valorization.
